Why Concrete Pumps Need Outrigger Pads
Concrete boom pumps generate significant outrigger loads, often exceeding 20 tonnes per leg on larger units. They frequently set up on residential driveways, car parks, pavements and soft ground where the surface cannot handle concentrated point loads without damage.
Without proper outrigger pads, pump operators risk sinking into soft ground (destabilising the boom), cracking driveways and kerbs, puncturing tarmac surfaces and liability claims for ground damage. A set of UHMW-PE pads eliminates these risks and pays for itself within a few jobs.

Concrete pump outrigger feet are typically 200mm to 400mm across. The right pad size depends on your pump's outrigger load and the ground conditions at the pour location.

One major advantage of UHMW-PE over timber or steel: concrete does not bond to the polymer surface. After the pour, any splashed concrete peels or chips off easily. The pads can be pressure washed or scraped clean in seconds, ready for the next job. Timber mats absorb concrete slurry and become heavier and weaker over time. UHMW stays the same weight and strength pour after pour.
