Why Modular Mats Suit Spider Crane Operations

Spider cranes use outriggers to stabilise during lifts. The pads must spread each verified outrigger reaction across enough assessed bearing area for the actual support condition. Suspended slabs require project-specific structural approval; a surface description alone cannot confirm capacity.

The modular format can provide different approved spread configurations, but mats must not be combined by assumption. Each arrangement must follow the product specification and lift plan, with both the mat capacity and the resulting ground pressure checked for the job.

Spider cranes typically work on surfaces where damage is not an option: indoor marble floors, membrane roofing, block paving on a new build, freshly laid landscaping. A timber mat can mark, splinter or leave residue. UHMW-PE sits flat, spreads the load evenly and lifts off clean.

UHMW-PE For Hire Fleets

UHMW-PE does not absorb water, rot or corrode, which helps keep handling weight consistent and reduces the maintenance problems associated with wet timber. Manufacturer-listed capacity still depends on the pad remaining within specification: fleet pads should be inspected before use and removed from service if damaged, permanently deformed or otherwise unsuitable.
